In the picturesque landscapes of Essex, where the lush greens intertwine with the history of camaraderie and tradition, a momentous event unfolded on Saturday 20th of April. It was a day etched in the annals of Essex County Golf, as over 195 fervent enthusiasts of the sport gathered to witness the birth of something truly extraordinary.

Amidst the gentle breeze that whispered through the fairways, the Essex County Golf Lodge 10045 emerged, with a grandeur that resonated across the expanse of the course. Proudly sponsored and nurtured by The Cricket Lodge of Essex No.10009, the journey of this newfound fraternity began with a solemn call to "Play," echoing through the hearts of all present.

At the Southend Masonic Centre and under the watchful gaze of esteemed brethren and luminaries of the fraternity, the ceremony unfurled with grace and precision. Led by the Cricket Lodge secretary, the stage was set for the venerable Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, Paul Tarrant, and his Provincial Team to orchestrate a spectacle like no other—the Ceremony of Consecration.

With each word uttered, the Lodge came to life, infused with the solemnity and reverence that marked this historic occasion. As the mantle of leadership passed from one esteemed figure, Paul Tarrant to another, Nicholas Franklin, the Very Worshipful Deputy Provincial Grand Master, the essence of brotherhood and stewardship permeated the air.
The installation of the primus Master, Bradley Thurgood, was a moment of profound significance, where tradition intertwined with modernity, and the legacy of the Lodge was entrusted to capable hands. Amidst pauses for snapshots and replenishment at the 9th hole, the spirit of camaraderie flourished, infusing each swing with renewed vigour as the brethren tackled the back 9.

Following the installation of the Worshipful Master, his Wardens and Officers, the brethren were treated to moments of reflection and wisdom. Nicholas Franklin delivered an Address to the Master, while Joseph Shearer and Richard Jordan imparted their insights to the Wardens with eloquence and poignancy.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of gold and crimson across the sky, the festive spirit soared at the Festive Board. Generosity flowed as freely as the donations, with over £1,200 raised for charitable causes by the Lodge, and an impressive £1,500 contributed by the assembled brethren. Yet, amidst the jubilation, it was the harmonious chorus of 195 masons, led by John Hubbard, that truly stole the evening, as they reverberated the timeless notes of the Master Song.

As the echoes of this historic day continue to linger on the gentle breezes of Essex, the Essex County Golf Lodge stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of fellowship and camaraderie. And as the fraternity embarks on its journey, promising tales of friendship and stewardship, one thing is certain—the greens of Essex have witnessed the birth of a legacy that shall endure for generations to come.
